Arizona Patent of the Month – April 2022

There are many times where people are suddenly left without water but natural disasters can leave them without water for days or even months. Even when water is available, it may not be safe to consume or use in cooking, showering, or even brushing your teeth. If the community is in a rural area, this impact can last even longer. Planet Water, LLC is committed to developing solutions which makes water accessible to all for consumption and general contact.

Part of this effort has resulted in their development of an emergency water filtration kiosk. Their system uses four stages of water filtration to purify, clean, and improve the taste of water. It uses a turn-key variable pump system which supplies water to the kiosk. The system is packaged in a lockable and vandal-resistant aluminum container, with water spouts that allow people to access the water when needed but prevents them from tampering with the inner workings. Most importantly, the kiosk can be set up nearly anywhere to provide water access in the midst of a disaster. This means it can be powered by petrol, electric, or even manual power sources. The manual option can be powered using a treadle.

Their system can produce drinking water on the order of 1,500 liters per hour capable of supporting the daily drinking water requirements of up to 9,500 people.
