The Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act, 2015-2017 Projects, Organ program provides funds lost from the loss of timber harvest on Federal lands that were used to support schools and infrastructure. The objective of this program is to restore stability and predictability of lost income for the benefit of the surrounding communities. Projects should cover objectives including but not excluded to:

  • Road, trail, and infrastructure maintenance or obliteration
  • Soil productivity improvement
  • Forest ecosystem health improvements
  • Watershed restoration and maintenance
  • Wildlife and fish habitat restoration and maintenance
  • Control of noxious and exotic weeds
  • Native species re-establishment

There is not a determined dollar amount for grant awards; however, terms for this program may not exceed five years from the date it is put into effect. No cost sharing requirements or matching requirements are part of this opportunity. Eligible participants are excluded to Oregon. An application package may be obtained from the Grants.gov website. To submit an application, participants must be registered with Dun and Bradstreet Universal Numbering System (DUNS) and the System for Awards Management System (SAM).
