The STAR Fund was created to provide farms with funds to assist in building fences, restoring operations, and funding for other agricultural disaster relief. The deadline for the STAR Fund Assistance program is 60 days after a disaster declaration proclamation for the county is issued by the Governor.

No late applications are accepted; all applications must be submitted to TDA before the deadline. To apply for this opportunity farmers are required to submit:

  • STAR Assistance Application
  • IRS W-9
  • Application for Texas Identification Number
  • Optional Direct Deposit Information

Awards may not exceed $5,000 and require a cost share to qualified agricultural producers. Eligible participants include producers whose farm is located in counties the Govern declares as disaster areas. Funds may be used for expenses not covered by insurance including but not excluded to:

  • Farm fencing
  • Agricultural structure repair

– Barns
– Chicken coops
– Stables

  • Animal removal
  • Other direct cost related to the natural disaster

Expenses eligibility is determined by TDA on a case-by-case basis reimbursing farmers up to 50% of their accrued expenses.

Applications must be complete to be considered for this opportunity; incomplete applications will not be considered for funding unless sufficient information is received before the deadline. Funds will not be released until damages from the disaster are verified by TDA.
