Colorado Patent of the Month – October 2021

Gas fireplaces with artificial log assemblies are becoming increasingly common as they require less maintenance and are safer than traditional wood-burning fires. They are made from non-flammable materials and fuel to simulate burning wood. Warming Trends, LLC are experts in the innovation and design of these fireplaces, known for their cutting-edge technology which creates a more natural flame.

They have recently developed a new design for an artificial log assembly which has a fuel supply in the cavity of the log. The artificial log can be designed to look like a log, tree trunk, or branch. The log-looking container has slits throughout it which allow the flame to be seen from the outside. The slits actually create a visual effect of flames dancing in the cavity, casting light and shadows to create the most realistic burning experience. The fuel supply outlet is positioned closer to the axis than the outer wall and spaced equally from each other along the axis. This design creates the most realistic fireplace experience and can be customized to suit the user’s aesthetic requirements.

Are you developing new technology for an existing application? Did you know your development work could be eligible for the R&D Tax Credit and you can receive up to 14% back on your expenses? Even if your development isn’t successful your work may still qualify for R&D credits (i.e. you don’t need to have a patent to qualify).
