Illinois Patent of the Month – November 2021

Many athletes wear gloves to reduce blistering on their hands and improve their grip on sporting equipment. Golf is one such sport known for gloves. These gloves give better grip on the club during the swing, increasing control and (hopefully) improving shot accuracy. It’s important to find a glove that properly fits – too loose leads to less grip and reduced control. Zero Friction, LLC has designed a glove that conforms to the hand of the folger, ensuring a snug and comfortable fit.

The key design feature is the material used. A typical athletic glove is made of leather or synthetic materials but these are known to not stretch. Zero Friction’s glove is designed with a synthetic and cabretta leather material and shaped in a compression fit. Each finger, the palm, and the back of the hand are separate panels of material, each connected by a stretch material which allows relative movement and expansion. Elastic bands on the insides of the panels on the backside allow adjustment to the fit of the glove. Any surface which required grip have embossed textures with indentations to provide that support. This design allows them to mold and stretch to fit each individual golfer’s hand. With this design, there would be no more question of “if the glove fits”.
