Iowa Patent of the Month – November 2021

When it comes to deer hunting, hunters often try to imitate calls and sounds to calm the deer into a sense of security, allowing them to get closer and make a more precise shot. Tree Thrasher, LLC knows this and has designed a device to improve this call game by focusing on three key sounds made by bucks when they feel calm. These sounds include the scraping, rubbing, and “thrashing” of trees.

As part of this journey to the ultimate buck call device, Tree Thrasher designed a telescopic game call. This device can be adjustably lengthened. Their design uses two resonant members with a harmonic carriage and reed positioned within. By sliding these resonant members, the length can be modified as seen fit. Each of these lengths are called a telescopic position and alter the sound produced. Moving the harmonic carriage during use can increase the customization options of the sound produced. For instance, when moved towards the blowing end, the sound is lower frequency. Moved towards the resonating end results in a higher pitch.
