Kansas Patent of the Month – May 2022

In recent years, we have learned just how important health screening and tracking is. Understanding who has been in and around a risky environment is essential to preventing problems. For instance, tracking who has entered a health facility can help prevent spread in the case of a breakout. In many cases, employees might clock into their shifts, and patients are tracked via a log sheet. But vendors and visitors are less rigorously tracked and while they may sign in, there is not accounting for who has left or when. Not only is this problematic for disease breakouts, it can be a concern in emergencies.

Sterling Readiness Rounds, LLC has developed a system for health screening and facility access. Their system provides thorough screening and is fully customizable while being completely automated. The screening process automatically runs through the following steps:

  • Touchless temperature scans;
  • Question-based wellness screening;
  • Employee/Provider access;
  • Visitor management including outpatient screening;
  • Vaccination verification;

Employees can scan their employee ID, while visitors and vendors scan any legal ID. They then receive a printed identification slip which shows their exact entrance time and data. They then complete a wellness check using a customizable questionnaire and have their temperature scanned to be granted access. The mobile app allows employees to fill in their questionnaire before arriving at work so they simply scan their ID, get their temperature checked, and head into work. Since it is completely automated, the need for entrance staffing is cut and nurses and staff can be better used elsewhere. In this way, a simple and sustainable safety protocol can be implemented with minimal fuss.
