Louisiana Patent of the Month – July 2021
Natural gas can be ultra-cooled into a liquid state which takes up just 1/600th of the space of it’s gaseous phase – which means this supercooled state is easier to transport and store. Waskey Bridges, Inc. has designed a method to easily construct and install a cryogenic trench to transport this liquified natural gas (LNG).
The cryogenic trench uses multiple connected trench sections which interlock. The support structure is designed out of pipe racks which can bring cryogen into the system. Cryogenic panels are included to control any spillage of the cryogenic material such as liquified gas. Each section is first constructed from a precast, using concrete. The cryogenic panels are then adhered onto each section. Finally, each section can be locked into place for final assembly. This trench is hooked up to the pipe through the support structure. The LNG can then flow into the trench as needed and be stored safely with no concern for spillage. Waskey is a leading producer of custom precast concrete products, developing innovative solutions for a variety of applications. Through constant R&D and innovation, they have secured a name in the world of turn key solutions.
Are you developing new technology for an existing application? Did you know your development work could be eligible for the R&D Tax Credit and you can receive up to 14% back on your expenses? Even if your development isn’t successful your work may still qualify for R&D credits (i.e. you don’t need to have a patent to qualify).
