Louisiana Patent of the Month – June 2024
Bags facilitate our every day – from grocery bags bringing our food from the store to our house to industrial scale bags packaging the food for delivery to the store in the first place. AmeriGlobe LLC have made a name in the business of bags – designing bulk bags that address every challenge found in bulk packaging.
Recently, the company has been granted a patent for an apparatus designed to measure the peel strength of bonds between flexible fabrics, specifically tailored for bulk bags. This cutting-edge device meticulously tests the integrity of heat-sealed bonds, ensuring each bag’s safety and reliability without destruction.
The apparatus operates by inserting a lifting member between two flexible fabrics in an unsealed area adjacent to the sealed bond. Under designated pressure and time, the lift member measures the distance it can rise, providing crucial data on the bond’s peel strength. This process is a reliable predictor of shear strength, which is essential for confirming the bag’s ability to meet stringent safety standards.
A notable feature is the sensor that triggers the test upon insertion, coupled with a control panel that records data and can cancel tests if parameters are exceeded. Additionally, a marker system can automatically label fabrics that pass the test, streamlining quality control.
This innovation represents a significant advancement over traditional destructive testing methods. By ensuring that each bag meets industry safety margins, AmeriGlobe’s apparatus not only enhances efficiency but also promotes sustainability by reducing waste. This leap forward in quality assurance technology underscores AmeriGlobe’s commitment to safety and innovation in the bulk bag industry.
