Muscle therapy is a form of deep tissue massage therapy which targets strained and tender muscle fibers and restrictions that are causing pain and discomfort. Muscle therapy focuses on getting the muscle back to the point where it can work properly, restoring normal movement and reducing pain. Motionwise, LLC has developed a ring-shaped tool to help achieve this deep-tissue impact.
The ring-shaped device is large, like a hula hoop, with a couple of protrusions. Each protrusion aims towards the center of the circle and has a semi-spherical tip. The user can hold the ring, positioning the protrusions against the afflicted muscle and turn it on. The tool then vibrates the protrusions, creating a rapid deep tissue massage. The user can also forego the vibrations and use a pressure-method instead. For instance, positioning the ring on the sore muscle and leaning against a wall to force the protrusion into the muscle, creating pressure which should relieve tension. The ring shape makes it easy for the user to position the protrusions on hard to reach muscles, including along the back and neck.
Motionwise’s founder, John Gifford, has provided over forty-thousand sessions of specialized deep tissue massage therapy since 1986 and has seen first hand how difficult patients have found self-treatment. Some areas are hard to reach and others are hard to apply enough pressure. With his design for this ring-shaped massage tool, patient’s can better care for themselves between sessions.
