Mississippi Patent of the Month – April 2021

Numerous attachments and accessories have been designed to improve the operation of a rifle. Side rails mounted along the side of a rifle can act as a fixation point for an optic mount to be attached. These side rails come in various designs, including a dovetail-shape so the optic mount can slide in for attachment. This style usually uses a set screw to fasten the optic mount in place – but rifle vibrations can shake this loose. Premier Shooting Solutions, LLC has designed a new rifle optic mount assembly to couple with a side rail.

Their new design works with rifles without requiring modification from factory condition to the firearm. The assembly uses a clamping bar and leber coupled by a fastener. The lever is contoured to rotate into position in the associated sid rail. This provides a more secure position and reduces lateral movement. When engaged, the lever tightens the clamping bar and holds the optic mount securely against the side rail, reducing vertical movement. The lever is adjustable so that the mount assembly fits with different size side rails. The system secures the optic mount in both directions, offering dual-axis locking to enhance the users experience. The redesigned optic mount assembly helps to keep your rifle setup simple and effective.
