Mississippi Patent of the Month – March 2022

When disaster strikes, long term care (LTC) facilities may need to evacuate all staff and patients. Even during an evacuation, they are still required to maintain patient medical records. However, as most facilities have gone online and rely on electronic medical records, this can be nearly impossible. BoomBoxDR, LLC (Think Anew) has designed an IT disaster recovery device capable of keeping technology working, even in disaster.

Their system is transportable and ready for use in minutes. Once set up, a nurse can continue their charting following evacuation, maintaining integrity of the health information. This is all achieved by streamlining networks through an IP-based architecture. The device connects the LTC devices with any available network to support their operation. The processor can then pull medical records to be edited from the user devices. Of course, medical records are very confidential. As such, the system is designed with state of the art communication encryptions between all involved devices.

Think Anew has incorporated over 30 years of industry experience in scalable healthcare infrastructure, business continuity, and disaster planning into the design of the BOOMBOX architecture. The robust capabilities, mobility, transportability, and cost-effectiveness of the BOOMBOX enables a broad range of deployment scenarios for operators and emergency management personnel.

Are you developing new technology for an existing application? Did you know your development work could be eligible for the R&D Tax Credit and you can receive up to 14% back on your expenses? Even if your development isn’t successful your work may still qualify for R&D credits (i.e. you don’t need to have a patent to qualify).
