Ozone is a versatile compound offering disinfectant properties that can be used to purify potable water or even as a topical treatment. Unfortunately, it has been historically difficult to measure how much ozone was delivered vs. how much was absorbed with any accuracy. Without accuracy, regulatory approval is quite difficult to attain.
Immunores-Therapeutics, LLC has developed a gas treatment delivery system designed for ozone. The device is designed with ozone inert materials so that, as the gas is delivered, there are no unwanted reactions. This also ensures the measured ozone will not be absorbed by the device’s own material.
The device delivers an absorbed-dose of the ozone gas to a fluid such as cells or biological liquids. This is achieved using a controlled rotation or oscillation of the gas-fluid contact device. As it is rotated, a thin layer of the fluid forms on the interior of the device. This thin layer provides a relatively large surface area for increased absorption. The constant rotation ensures the fluid is regularly mixing, opening up more surface area for absorption. A sensor tracks the amount of gas that is dispensed, tracking this absorption carefully to accurately measure the final absorption volume. This is achieved using both input and output gas analyzing sensors which analyze the composition of the gas output. This is used to determine a rate of absorption and then the amount of absorption.
