Nevada Patent of the Month – March 2022

We’ve all seen futuristic movies where robots roam around with hyper-human appearances. Psychologically, the more a robot looks like us, the more likely we are to trust and relate to it. For this reason, Realbotix, LLC has committed themselves to the development of realistic robotic heads and AI.

Recently, the company has designed the functionality needed to support realistic facial expressions. This includes realistic blinking and eyelid movement. Most existing attempts at robotic heads have fallen short when it comes to these facial expressions, missing the mark in the natural movements humans use to convey emotion.

Realbotix’ robotic heads are designed to be both interchangeable and realistic. The eye assembly is powered by actuators and designed to better support eyelid movement. These actuators use a drive band magnetically coupled to the eyelid support to create a natural closing path. It also ensures, when blinking, both eyelids move in unison.

As these robots become more and more realistic, Realbotix comes closer and closer to their goal of creating intelligent customized programs capable of automating processes from households to industries.
