Nevada Patent of the Month – March 2025
Crytica Security has introduced a patented cybersecurity solution that redefines malware detection in critical infrastructure. The U.S. Patent No. 12,261,854, titled “Cybersecurity Infection Detection System and Method,” details a system that rapidly identifies threats with minimal resource usage.
Real-Time Detection with Minimal Impact
Unlike traditional antivirus software that relies on known threat signatures, Crytica’s system employs lightweight probes to monitor devices for unauthorized changes in real-time. This approach enables the detection of both known and previously unseen malware within seconds, without waiting for the malware to execute.
Independent testing by the Tolly Group highlighted Crytica’s effectiveness. The system achieved a 100% detection rate for both known and zero-day malware, outperforming Microsoft Defender, which detected 94.4% of known malware and only 33–50% of zero-day threats. Additionally, Crytica’s solution operates efficiently, using just 2MB of memory and approximately 10% CPU, compared to Defender’s higher resource consumption. citeturn0search0
Enhancing Security for Critical Systems
Crytica’s technology is particularly suited for operational technologies (OT) and Internet of Things (IoT) devices, which often have limited processing capabilities. By focusing on detecting unauthorized instruction-level changes, the system provides robust protection without generating false positives, ensuring that alerts are both accurate and actionable.
This innovation offers a significant advancement in cybersecurity, providing organizations with a tool to detect and respond to threats swiftly, thereby enhancing the protection of essential services and infrastructure.
Are you developing new technology for an existing application? Did you know your development work could be eligible for the R&D Tax Credit and you can receive up to 14% back on your expenses? Even if your development isn’t successful your work may still qualify for R&D credits (i.e. you don’t need to have a patent to qualify).
