Nevada Patent of the Month – May 2022

A swim spa combines the benefits of water exercise with the therapy of a hot tub, meaning you can swim while enjoying the warmth and relaxation of the tub. Swimming as exercise is great for rehabilitation of some injuries, providing a low impact but high cardio option. It’s also a great option for elderly people who may not be able to withstand the impact of weights or running. Unfortunately, like a hot tub, these swim spas also tend to have solid, folding covers which are heavy and may be difficult to remove. The elderly and injured may even need to arrange with other people to get these lids off and back on. E2E, LLC has recently designed and patented an improved cover so that nobody is limited from using the spa by the lid.

Their alternative cover is a roll-up, multi-layered design. The material is flexible yet durable so that it may roll up when taken off, but hold up against rain and debris when covering the spa. The different layers of material are supported by fiberglass or metal tubes across the expanse. While initial installation may need two people due to the weight of the cover, rolling and unrolling can then be done by a single person of any strength. The rollup is done just as you would with a sleeping bag, rolling from one end to the other. Adjustable straps at either end of the cover can be used to keep the cover taut when in use, and easily removed when necessary.

Are you developing new technology for an existing application? Did you know your development work could be eligible for the R&D Tax Credit and you can receive up to 14% back on your expenses?
