New Hampshire Patent of the Month – July 2021

Many coffee makers, like a KEURIG, have reservoirs to hold water to speed up the coffee making process. While the water is heated up, it’s rarey heated to a temperature capable of killing bacteria which means these reservoirs need frequent cleaning. The reservoirs keep water stagnant, heating it periodically – which makes it a great place for bacterial and mold growth. SoClean Inc. has designed a cleaning technology that takes care of this for you – so you can continue not worrying about the water in your coffee.

The cleaning device uses a sanitizing gas, like ozone to easily and effectively clean the reservoir. A connector unit installs into the reservoir, through the wall, bottom, or lid. It allows the passage of ozone into the reservoir, and has an outlet passageway to remove it as well. Gas flows in through the inlet and is pulled out through an exhaust system. SoClean develops innovative cleaning products that work to create a cleaner, sanitized environment while reducing the work needed to achieve that. They have designed sanitizers for CPAPs, and personal devices – and the water reservoir cleaner will now improve your morning coffee routine.

Are you developing new technology for an existing application? Did you know your development work could be eligible for the R&D Tax Credit and you can receive up to 14% back on your expenses? Even if your development isn’t successful your work may still qualify for R&D credits (i.e. you don’t need to have a patent to qualify). To find out more, please contact a Swanson Reed R&D Specialist today or check out our free online eligibility test.
