New Jersey Patent of the Month – December 2021

Hair loss or thinning impacts millions of people across the nation. Hair is a unique structure with follicles (HF) subjected to constant turnover throughout their life cycle. HF cycling and regeneration are controlled by multiple growth factors including androgens. Androgens can also trigger hair loss through a process that leads to the inhibition of epithelial cell growth. Many diseases and maladies contribute to free radicals in the bloodstream which are known to lead to hair loss, weakened nails, and poor skin appearance. There are many hair loss remedies and medications on the market, but most (eg. Minoxidil) have temporary effects or may produce adverse side effects.

Zivmas, LLC has developed a new supplement to promote hair growth using extracts from Euterpe oleracea, Olea europaea, Coffea arabica, and Tabebuia impetiginosa. In addition to these extracts, the formula uses zinc and vitamin D3. This supplement formulation offers a non-medicinal treatment of hair loss. Through extensive lab testing, the formula was seen to downregulate expression of TGF-β1 protein and improve hair nourishment and growth. The formulation improves blood circulation, nourishes the hair follicle, reduces DHT in the scalp, and protects hair from stressors including UV rays, air, and water.
