Medivis Inc. has earned U.S. Patent No. 12290326, titled ‘Virtual interaction with instruments in augmented reality’, for a breakthrough in surgical AR. The invention allows surgeons to interact with virtual models in real time using physical tools, helping improve accuracy and safety during operations.
New Tools for Smarter Surgery
This system uses special markers to track real surgical tools inside a shared 3D space. As a result, both the tools and patient anatomy appear together in an augmented reality display. With this setup, surgeons can see exactly where their instruments are and how they align with internal structures. That can help reduce errors and speed up procedures.

In traditional surgery, doctors rely on 2D images and experience. This AR system adds live, layered visuals directly on the patient’s body.
