New York Patent of the Month – October 2021

Sleep is critical for everyone. Without good sleep, you simply cannot function properly. Sleep impacts every aspect of your life, from committing new information to memory to maintaining weight. One limiting factor to sleep is the wrong bed. Individual’s need a bed that suits their personal sleep preference (eg. side sleeper, back sleeper) and their body type. Some research has shown that sleeping on a flat surface is not conducive to restful sleep. Based on this research, some bed frames have been created to achieve an incline. BEDGEAR, LLC has taken it further, creating a bed that can be adjusted in sections to better match the body’s needs.

The bed frame is separated into a lower and upper frame with three separate sections. The middle section can pivot relative to the first and third section. The middle section can be lifted and moved towards or away from the lower frame. This makes it easy to adjust the shape of the bed frame to create a hollow area near the hips of the person while the upper portion of the body and the feet can remain partially inclined. By lifting both the head and feet above their midsection, the body can rest in a neutral spine posture with minimal stress on the sleeper’s bones and joints. BEDGEAR has developed everything you need for a solid sleep, from great mattresses to pillows. But these require a good frame to support them and really create good sleep.
