Oklahoma Patent of the Month – May 2022
A strobe light can provide an effective, non-violent tactical solution for disorienting targets. The strobing lights can reduce peripheral vision, create disorientation, and give the user time to react while the attacker is trying to recover. RPX Technologies, Inc. has designed a drone with strobe abilities, offering an unmanned tactical device.
The drone is equipped with a collision detection and avoidance system, an aerial platform, and a piloting system. A distance sensor measures the distance between the drone itself and the attacker. The light source can be made to provide a steady or strobed light to create improved visibility or disorient any target. By building this disorientation tactic into a drone, attackers can be targeted from a distance, giving users an even greater advantage.
RPX Technologies is an R&D company focused on improving the aviation industry from pleasure crafts to tactical technologies. Parlaying on the success of their original product, the DynaVibe Classic, RPX now offers other advanced aircraft diagnostic maintenance technologies for piston-driven airplanes, turbine engines, and helicopters.
Are you developing new technology for an existing application? Did you know your development work could be eligible for the R&D Tax Credit and you can receive up to 14% back on your expenses? Even if your development isn’t successful your work may still qualify for R&D credits (i.e. you don’t need to have a patent to qualify).
