Oregon Patent of the Month – May 2025

Liquid Wire Inc. has unveiled a groundbreaking innovation that enhances wearable and industrial sensor accuracy. U.S. Patent No. 12298128, titled ‘Multi-axis differential strain sensor’, introduces a flexible sensor that isolates strain in multiple directions while minimizing interference.

Next-Gen Strain Measurement

The patent describes a stretchable substrate equipped with two sensing elements. One element captures strain in a primary direction, while the second responds to both primary and secondary axes. By subtracting the signals, the system isolates the secondary-axis strain, improving data clarity.

Applications in Wearables and Beyond

This technology opens new possibilities for precision in wearables, soft robotics, and industrial systems. By filtering out overlapping signals, devices can monitor complex motion or structural shifts more accurately and consistently.

Flexible, Scalable Design

The sensor’s gel-based and deformable materials make it adaptable across applications. Its ability to function in dynamic environments gives it a competitive edge in both consumer and commercial markets.

Innovation with Impact

Liquid Wire Inc. continues to push the frontier of flexible electronics. This new sensor design stands to improve product performance wherever detailed, directional strain monitoring is essential.
