Pennsylvania Patent of the Month – March 2021
Sleep ‘N Feed, LLC has brought a solution to a problem plaguing mothers for years. Babies wake up throughout the night, wanting to be fed and put back to sleep. This means both the mother and the baby have to get up, get situated for feeding, and return to bed. Sleep ‘N Feed has designed a multifunctional Baby Nesting System to serve as a nursing pillow and traveling bassinet all in one.
This device safely supports a baby during sleep, feeding, and awake time. A base is connected to a fabric front which can have pillows attached as needed. The pillows can be arranged in any way to make the baby comfortable. The walls of the base are detachable to make it as adjustable as possible, offering positions to help the baby lay down in a safe and supported way, as well as sitting, nursing, and so on. These walls are made of soft, sturdy materials to act as a bumper for the baby. Proper support and care during early development and sleep has been proven to reduce the chance of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).The assembly can also be made small for a newborn and expanded as the baby grows. This device has no hard shape, making it very portable and durable. The baby can rest in it for feeding. It can be placed inside of a crib for naptime, or on the bed for safe co-sleeping.
