Pine Bluff, Arkansas Patent of the Year – 2024/2025

Central Moloney Inc. has been awarded the 2024/2025 Patent of the Year for its innovative approach to wildlife protection in power distribution. Their invention, detailed in U.S. Patent Application No. 20240355524, titled ‘Universal cap for arrester brackets’, introduces a universal insulating cap designed to fit both standard and new-style arrester brackets, enhancing the reliability of electrical grids.

This universal cap addresses a persistent issue in power distribution: outages caused by wildlife, particularly birds and squirrels, bridging high-voltage circuits. The cap features a slotted portion that slides over the rib of an arrester bracket, securing it in place. An extended cover shields bolts and fasteners, while internal projecting members grip the bracket sides, ensuring stability. The design accommodates various bracket styles, making it a versatile solution for utility companies.

By preventing wildlife-induced outages, this cap not only improves service reliability but also reduces maintenance costs and enhances safety for both animals and infrastructure. Central Moloney’s commitment to innovation in transformer components reflects its role in advancing power distribution technology.
