Coral Springs, Florida Patent of the Year – 2024/2025

Doroni Aerospace Inc. has been awarded the 2024/2025 Patent of the Year for its innovative personal quadcopter aircraft. Their invention, detailed in U.S. Patent No. 11964753, titled ‘Personal quadcopter aircraft’, utilizes embedded vertical thrusters within airfoils to enable efficient vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) as well as wing-supported horizontal flight.

The patented design features pairs of airfoils, each housing electric vertical thrusters. These thrusters provide lift for vertical takeoffs and landings. Once airborne, horizontal thrusters propel the aircraft forward, allowing the airfoils to generate lift through airflow, thereby reducing energy consumption compared to traditional rotorcraft. This configuration aims to enhance flight efficiency and range while maintaining compactness and maneuverability.

Doroni’s approach addresses common limitations in VTOL aircraft, such as high energy usage during hover and transition phases. By integrating lift-generating wings with embedded thrusters, the aircraft can transition smoothly between vertical and horizontal flight modes. This innovation holds potential for personal air mobility solutions, offering a blend of helicopter-like versatility and airplane-like efficiency.

The development aligns with Doroni Aerospace’s mission to advance urban air mobility. Their H1-X eVTOL model, incorporating this technology, is poised to redefine personal transportation by providing a practical and sustainable flying vehicle option.
