Tampa, Florida Patent of the Year – 2024/2025

Heat-Pipe Technology Inc. has been awarded the 2024/2025 Patent of the Year for a breakthrough in HVAC energy recovery. Their invention, detailed in U.S. Patent No. 11859850, titled ‘Heat exchanger’, uses a dynamic condensate management system to boost the efficiency of heat exchangers.

The patented system improves how air conditioning units handle condensate – the moisture collected as air cools. Traditionally, condensate can build up and reduce thermal transfer efficiency. Heat Pipe Technology’s design actively redirects this moisture, ensuring more effective heat recovery and better temperature control.

This innovation relies on a controlled condensate channel that adjusts fluid distribution across the heat exchanger. By manipulating how and where condensate flows, the system maintains high performance even in changing weather or humidity conditions. The design is especially useful in buildings where energy recovery is critical, such as hospitals, schools, and office complexes.

The result is lower energy use, improved indoor air quality, and extended system life – all without adding major complexity or cost. Facility managers and HVAC engineers can expect better control and fewer maintenance issues, thanks to this refined approach to passive thermal regulation.
Heat Pipe Technology Inc. has long been a leader in sustainable climate systems. This latest patent highlights their continued commitment to innovation with real-world impact, helping building operators meet growing energy demands while reducing environmental strain.
