Boise, Idaho Patent of the Year – 2024/2025

Baseline Inc. has been awarded the 2024/2025 Patent of the Year for its breakthrough in adaptive irrigation control. Their invention, detailed in U.S. Patent No. 12111628, titled ‘Systems, methods, and apparatuses for adaptive irrigation zone control using pressure, time, flow, and predicted behavior’, employs real-time pressure and flow monitoring to optimize water distribution across irrigation zones.

The system uses sensors to measure water pressure and flow rates within irrigation lines. When these readings fall outside target thresholds, the system identifies which valves to adjust to restore optimal conditions. It then issues commands to reposition those valves accordingly.

What sets this technology apart is its predictive capability. It compares expected outcomes of valve adjustments with actual results, learning over time which configurations yield the best performance. This adaptive approach ensures efficient water use, reducing waste and conserving resources.

The innovation holds significant promise for agriculture, landscaping, and municipal water management. By dynamically adjusting to changing conditions, it supports sustainable practices and can lead to cost savings.
Baseline Inc.’s patented system represents a significant advancement in irrigation technology, aligning with global efforts to manage water resources more effectively.
