CO2 Solution Inc. has been awarded the 2024/2025 Patent of the Year for sustainable manufacturing innovation. Their invention, detailed in U.S. Patent No. 6908507, titled ‘Process and a plant for the production of Portland cement clinker’, introduces a cleaner and more efficient method for making cement clinker.

This patented process tackles one of the most carbon-intensive stages in cement production. By reengineering the flow of materials and gases through the plant, the system reduces harmful emissions while boosting energy efficiency.

The invention uses a multi-stage suspension preheater and calciner system to better manage heat and raw material reactions. This improves combustion control and reduces the amount of fuel needed, leading to lower operating costs and a smaller environmental footprint.
