Harrisburg, Pennsylvania Patent of the Year – 2024/2025

Non-Metallic Connectors Inc. has been awarded the 2024/2025 Patent of the Year for its innovation in contactless lighting technology. Their invention, detailed in U.S. Patent No. 12176723, titled ‘Non-metallic connection light bulb and socket’, introduces a light bulb and socket system that eliminates exposed metal contacts by utilizing contactless power transfer through a non-metallic base.

This patented design features a light bulb with a non-metallic base housing a contactless power receiver, such as an inductive coil, connected to the bulb’s internal driver and LEDs. The corresponding socket contains a contactless power transmitter aligned with the bulb’s receiver, enabling safe and efficient power transfer without physical electrical contacts. This configuration reduces risks associated with corrosion, electrical shock, and water exposure, making it suitable for diverse environments, including underwater applications.

The system employs mechanical features like mating ribs and magnets to securely align and retain the bulb within the socket. This ensures proper positioning for optimal power transfer while maintaining a user-friendly installation process. The absence of metal contacts not only enhances safety but also simplifies maintenance and extends the lifespan of the lighting components.

Non-Metallic Connectors Inc.’s development represents a significant advancement in lighting technology, offering a safer and more versatile solution for various applications where traditional metal-based connections pose limitations.
