Ogden, Utah Patent of the Year – 2024/2025

Megaware KeelGuard Inc. has been awarded the 2024/2025 Patent of the Year for a customizable support pad that cuts vibration and gravitational shock to protect batteries. Their invention, detailed in U.S. Patent No. 12027717, titled ‘Customizable support pad for reducing vibration and gravitational shock acting on a battery’, uses a grid‑patterned elastomer pad to absorb up to 80 percent of harmful forces and extend battery life.

Rough roads and choppy waves shake batteries in vehicles and boats. This new pad cushions the battery using shock‑absorbing material. It spreads energy in all directions to reduce stress on battery cells.

The pad features raised grid lines that help users trim it to fit any battery box or tray. Its elastomer base can be cut to size, fitting Group‑31 batteries and smaller ones.

Batteries endure micro‑fractures from constant vibration. This simple pad diverts those forces and can increase battery life by reducing internal damage over time.

Megaware KeelGuard designed this pad to be easy to use. It works in harsh outdoor conditions, whether in SUVs, ATVs, boats, or trailers.

By offering an affordable way to protect batteries, this patent could save money for recreational and commercial users alike. Megaware KeelGuard’s innovation demonstrates how small design changes can have big impacts on equipment longevity.
