Rock Springs, Wyoming Patent of the Year – 2024/2025

Moneyhun Equipment Sales & Service Co. Inc. has been awarded the 2024/2025 Patent of the Year for its innovation in natural gas treatment. Their invention, detailed in U.S. Patent Application No. 20240026240, titled ‘Fuel gas conditioner’, introduces a mobile system that transforms rich natural gas into lean, engine-ready fuel through advanced cooling and separation techniques.

The patented system uses a series of heat exchangers and pressure control valves to cool high-pressure gas streams, leveraging the Joule-Thomson effect to lower temperatures and separate unwanted liquids. This process removes water and natural gas liquids (NGLs), producing a cleaner-burning fuel suitable for on-site engines. The entire setup is mounted on a skid, allowing for easy deployment at remote well sites.

Operating within pressures of 800–1200 psig and temperatures between 70–110°F, the system cools the gas to as low as −90°F, ensuring efficient removal of impurities. An integrated control loop adjusts cooling based on real-time temperature readings, optimizing performance across varying conditions.

This innovation offers a practical solution for oil and gas operations seeking to improve fuel quality and reduce emissions on-site. By delivering a compact, efficient, and adaptable system, Moneyhun Equipment Sales & Service Co., Inc. addresses a critical need in energy production.
