South Carolina Patent of the Month – April 2023

EnviroMix, Inc. is a company that specializes in providing sustainable and efficient solutions for wastewater treatment. One of their latest innovations is a wastewater treatment system that uses pressurized gas to provide mixing and aeration processes.

The system includes a source of pressurized gas that is connected to one or more supply lines. These supply lines are then connected to a series of nozzles. A control panel regulates the supply of pressurized gas to the nozzles.

What makes EnviroMix’s system unique is its ability to selectively provide pressurized gas to at the nozzles in a random or pseudo-random cycle or for a random or pseudo-random duration. This cycle or duration is not based on dynamically-measured properties of the wastewater, which is a departure from traditional methods of wastewater treatment.

The system can also provide pressurized gas to the first portion of the nozzles in a random or pseudo-random cycle and subsequently provide pressurized gas to a second portion of the nozzles in the same cycle. This ensures that the wastewater is evenly mixed and aerated throughout the entire containment unit.

In addition, the control panel can regulate the flow rate of pressurized gas to the nozzles and is in communication with valves that open and close in response to signals from the control panel.

EnviroMix’s wastewater treatment system is not only efficient, but it also helps reduce energy consumption and costs. By providing pressurized gas in a random cycle or duration, the system is able to mix and aerate the wastewater with minimal energy usage. This is a significant improvement over traditional methods of wastewater treatment, which can be energy-intensive and costly.

Are you developing new technology for an existing application? Did you know your development work could be eligible for the R&D Tax Credit and you can receive up to 14% back on your expenses? Even if your development isn’t successful your work may still qualify for R&D credits (i.e. you don’t need to have a patent to qualify). To find out more, please contact a Swanson Reed R&D Specialist today or check out our free online eligibility test.
