Tennessee Patent of the Month – April 2025
Couture Technologies has been granted U.S. Patent No. 12266073, titled “System and method for three dimensional creation of a virtual garment and simulating use of the virtual garment on an avatar of an end user.” This new invention aims to reshape online apparel shopping by allowing customers to virtually try on clothes using lifelike digital avatars.
Realistic Fit with Digital Avatars
The patented system lets users create 3D avatars from photos or body measurements. Virtual garments are then generated from product images and text descriptions. The system drapes these garments over the avatars, simulating how the clothing fits and moves on a real body.
This process helps shoppers visualize fit and style before they buy. It also gives retailers a powerful tool to reduce costly returns and increase customer satisfaction.
Proven Retail Results
Couture Technologies has already seen results in real-world applications. After integrating the platform, brands like Freedom Company reported a complete elimination of product returns—compared to an industry average return rate of 24.4 percent. Customers also spent significantly more time interacting with product pages.
The technology supports on-demand manufacturing and helps streamline inventory by improving size accuracy before orders are placed.
