Texas Patent of the Month – April 2025
Nexalin Technology has been granted U.S. Patent No. 12,263,336, titled “Alternating current dynamic frequency stimulation system and method for opioid use disorder (OUD) and substance use disorder (SUD).” The patent covers a groundbreaking approach to treating addiction using non-invasive brain stimulation without drugs or surgery.
The system uses charge-balanced electrical signals to target deep brain regions linked to addiction. Nexalin’s technology, branded as Deep Intracranial Frequency Stimulation (DIFS), aims to modulate neurological activity and ease withdrawal symptoms in patients struggling with substance use disorders.
Home-Based Treatment With Broad Potential
The company’s latest device, Gen-3 HALO Clarity, allows patients to receive treatment at home under physician oversight. This represents a shift from traditional clinic-based neuromodulation therapies, making access more convenient and scalable.
According to Nexalin, the patented system also holds promise for treating other mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, and insomnia. The innovation builds on the company’s existing portfolio of neuromodulation technologies.
With this patent, Nexalin positions itself at the forefront of non-invasive treatments for addiction—a field in urgent need of effective, accessible solutions.
