Utah Patent of the Month – May 2025

Optisys Inc. has developed a new way to reduce size and complexity in aerospace communications. U.S. Patent No. 12316003, titled ‘Dual-band integrated printed antenna feed’, covers a 3D-printed device that combines two radio frequency bands into a single component. The design helps reduce weight, streamline manufacturing, and improve signal performance.

Dual-Band, One Component

The patented feed eliminates the need for separate antennas to handle different frequencies. Instead, it integrates dual-band operation into a unified printed structure. This benefits satellites, drones, and other systems where space is limited and reliability is essential.

Faster, Lighter, More Efficient

By using metal additive manufacturing, the company can produce complex internal geometries that are difficult to machine. Fewer parts mean faster production times and fewer failure points. The result is a durable and efficient antenna system ready for extreme environments.

Advancing Aerospace Systems

This antenna feed design allows engineers to build more compact, power-efficient RF systems. It supports the growing demand for lightweight, high-performance hardware in both commercial and defense applications. Optisys continues to push innovation in the rapidly evolving field of advanced communications.

Patent-Driven Innovation

With this patent, Optisys strengthens its leadership in antenna design for aerospace and satellite platforms. The technology aligns with the industry’s shift toward modular, scalable, and lightweight components built for speed and precision.
