A new stroke therapy could transform emergency care for millions. Revalesio Corporation has secured U.S. Patent 12263188 titled “Methods and compositions for treating stroke”, which outlines a groundbreaking method using oxygen-charged nanofluids to treat ischemic stroke.
Fast-Acting Intravenous Treatment
The patented approach delivers oxygen-rich saline intravenously during or shortly after a stroke. These fluids contain charge-stabilized nanostructures—mostly smaller than 100 nanometers—that carry dissolved oxygen directly to brain cells starved of blood flow. Treatment can begin within hours of symptom onset and continue for extended periods, even in multiple sessions.
Reducing Brain Damage and Improving Recovery
Preclinical studies cited in the patent show promising results. Primates and rodents treated with the nanofluid experienced reduced brain tissue damage and improved neurological behavior. By stabilizing oxygen levels in damaged tissue, the treatment may limit hypoxia, minimize reperfusion injury, and preserve functions like movement, balance, and vision.
Unlike blood-based or perfluorocarbon solutions, Revalesio’s formulation uses pharmaceutical-grade saline, keeping it safe and compatible with standard care. It may also work alongside clot-removal procedures or other stroke therapies.
A Step Toward Faster Stroke Intervention
With nearly 800,000 stroke cases annually in the U.S. alone—most of them ischemic—this new method could dramatically reduce long-term disability if approved for clinical use. Revalesio’s innovation moves emergency neurology toward faster, more precise intervention.
