Washington Patent of the Month – March 2022
Tattoo artists need equipment that supports their art regardless of placement. The client might want a tattoo on their shoulder, their ankle, their hip or any spot on their body, which means the chair needs to support any positioning. In addition to sitting in a weird position, the client may need to sit for hours to get through a piece. InkBed, Inc. has designed a chair that supports these positions for extensive periods of time so that the tattoo turns out great.
Their design can transition between chair and bed to support any positioning. While you might be thinking this is starting to sound like a chair you would find in a dentist’s office, the design goes much further. Arm and individual leg rests provide supports to hold limbs in a specific position as well. These attachments can be rotated, lifted, bent, and repositioned to move a limb wherever needed. The backrest is designed with a thinner lower portion so that a client could sit backwards and straddle the chair with their chest resting against the back when getting their back tattooed. The headrest is made of two pieces where the first layer has a hole the client can position their face in when facing the chair. A detachable cover can act as a cushion when the client is sitting in the chair normally.
Each of these design features are incorporated to optimize the ease of tattooing for both the artist and the client. These comfortable chairs offer an alternative to the existing chairs and stools used in most shops.
