The Environmental Engineering Program awards grants from $300,000 for science and technology and other research and development with over $10 million to be allocated to eligible applicants. The program was developed to encourage transformative research that applies scientific and engineering principles to minimize waste from human activities and promote resource and energy conservation and recovery. Funds may be used for waste assimilative capacity and reducing or removing waste contaminates from raw resources scientific research to:

Priority is given to:
- Enhancing the availability of high quality water supplies
– Development of innovative treatment processes
– Investigation of environmental engineering aspects of water management
- Watersheds
- Resevoirs
- Estuaries
- Storm water
– Investigation of biogeochemical and transport processes
- Fate and transport of contaminants of emerging concern
– Investigate the fate
– Transport and remediation of potential by-products

Applications must be submitted within the grant target dates prior to the deadline dates. Proposals must be submitted electronically using the Grants.gov website. Proposals cannot be funded twice and all applicants must register in the DUNS system before submitting an application.
