The Environmental Solution for Communities program is designed to financially support economic development and community linking projects that improve the stewardship and health of the environment. Funds may be used for:

  • Supporting agricultural practices
  • Supporting private lands stewardship
  • Conserving land and water resources
  • Improving local water quality
  • Restoring and managing

– Natural habitats
– Species
– Ecosystems

  • Facilitating investments

– Green infrastructure
– Renewable energy
– Energy efficiency

  • Encouraging broad-based citizen participation

Funds may range between $25,000 and $100,000 to be released after award announcements.  Eligible organizations include:

  • Community/Watershed Group
  • Cooperative Associations or Districts
  • Irrigation and Drainage Districts
  • Local Government
  • Nonprofit Groups
  • State/Territorial Agencies
  • Tribal Agencies

Applications must be submitted electronically on the NFWF website. The NFWF prioritizes applications with:

  • Measurable outcomes
  • Align with geographic or thematic priorities
  • Demonstrate strong collaborations
  • Identify highly-visible project sites
  • Have volunteer opportunities
  • Conservation and/or watershed management plan
  • Leverage other funding to increase outcomes
