Ocean Exploration Funding Opportunities are available to fund Interdisciplinary Ocean exploration projecting in these areas:
- Physical, chemical, and biological characterizations of deep, unknown or poorly known, ocean areas of deeper than 500m
- Baseline characterization of marine archaeological resources
- Technology advances for ocean exploration that applies to NOAA missions
Awards typically range between $50,000 to $1.5 million, based on fund availability; $3 million is available for allocation. Eligible applicants include:
- Higher education institutions
- Nonprofit organizations
- Commercial organizations
- International organizations
- State governments
- Local governments
- Indian tribal governments
- Federal agencies
This program does not have cost sharing or matching requirements; however it does require specific, relevant permits and approvals including:
