Ocean Exploration Funding Opportunities are available to fund Interdisciplinary Ocean exploration projecting in these areas:

Physical, chemical, and biological characterizations of deep, unknown or poorly known, ocean areas of deeper than 500m
Baseline characterization of marine archaeological resources
Technology advances for ocean exploration that applies to NOAA missions

Awards typically range between $50,000 to $1.5 million, based on fund availability; $3 million is available for allocation. Eligible applicants include:

This program does not have cost sharing or matching requirements; however it does require specific, relevant permits and approvals including:
