The Regional Water Plans/Planning Group Grants provide funding to for the development of a plan designed to ensure future water needs are met.  Eligible applicants include political subdivisions authorized by Regional Water Planning Groups (RWPG).  Eligible participants must submit an application for board review.

The Board review will evaluate the application according to specific criteria:

  • Level of new concept proposed
  • Project organization and budget
  • Scope of project
  • Eligibility of tasks
  • Relative need of funds
  • Legal authority of the political subdivision
  • Degree of which water supply needs will be met

Approved applications will receive notification of award amount and deadline requirements for the project. The applicant must enter into contract with the board before the deadline to receive any funds. Contracts typically include:

  • Purpose Statement
  • Funding Disbursement
  • Execution Timeline
  • All other terms and conditions

Developing a regional water plan will identify solutions to regional water supply challenges, including low-interest loan opportunities. The use of this program’s funds is dictated by the Board but will not include:

  • Activities using pre-existing data
  • Application preparation
  • Individual system planning
  • Administration Planning Cost
  • Analysis of water management strategies costs and benefits
