The Training and Technical Assistance to Improve Water quality and Enable Small Public Water Systems to Provide Safe Drinking Water funding opportunity provides funding for eligible participants to provide training and technical assistance for small public water systems. These opportunities are an effort to maintain SDWA compliance for drinking water in small under-served communities and private well owners and protect America’s waters. Funds may be used for training and technical assistance for:

  • Small Public Water Systems to maintain SDWA compliance
  • Improve financial and managerial capacity
  • Enable small public water systems to provide safe drinking water
  • Small Publicly-Owned Wastewater Systems
  • Onsite/Decentralized Wastewater Systems to improve water quality
  • Private well owners to improve water quality
  • Obtain long-term sustainability and resiliency

Eligible participants include:

  • Nonprofits
  • Private nonprofit universities
  • Private nonprofit colleges
  • Public institutions of higher education

Participants must match at least 10% of the total awarded funds. Awards cannot exceed $8 million. Applications must be complete and submitted through Grants.gov; any ineligible portions of the proposal will not be considered for funding. Applicants must submit the following:
