Wetlands Program Development Grants provide funds for conducting projects promoting the coordination and acceleration of:
- Research
- Investigations
- Experiments
- Training
- Demonstrations
- Surveys
- Studies related to water pollution
– Causes
– Effects
– Extent
– Prevention
– Reduction
– Elimination
Late proposals will not be considered for funding. All applications must be submitted under the current RFP. Building and refinement of wetland programs are prioritized for this program. There are two applicant tracks: eligible states and tribes may apply under either track; other eligible participants may only submit proposals under track to including:
- Local governments
- Interstate agencies
- Intertribal consortia
- Universities
Multiple applications may be submitted but all applications submitted by the same applicant must be submitted under the same track, applicants may not submit to both tracks. Typical awards range between $50,000 and $500,000; some match requirements may be present.
To obtain a proposal package eligible participants may download individual forms on the EPA website and submit proposals through Grants.gov and mail hard copy requirements to USEPA Headquarters. Applications should include:

- Explanation of how technical capabilities are lacking
- Application for Federal Assistance
- Budget Information
- Proposal Narrative
