Wisconsin Patent of the Month – February 2022
Cubisme, Inc. (Cubismi) have set out to transform and empower healthcare interactions with cloud-based virtual tech. The healthcare industry is experiencing a diagnostic error crisis at the hands of legacy IT systems. Limited by ancient silos and interfaces, physician’s cognitive processes and communication capabilities are suffering. Big Data is a contributing factor to both the problem and the potential solution. Their solution combines big data with AI to produce better biometric predictions of patient outcomes.
Recently, the company has developed a method to determine in vivo tissue biomarker characteristics using multiparameter MRI matrix creation and big data analytics. This technology makes it possible for earlier and more precise identification of tissue biomarkers. Raw data is captured in traditional methods (eg. MRI) and processed through the Cubismi software. The software applies a grid over these images, creating sub-regions of interest of the in vivo tissue. Data on different parameters within each sub-region are then pulled and stored in a spreadsheet where a data mining software searches for patterns in the tissue characteristics.
This testing can also continue on during treatment to assess the patient’s progress. This could provide better indication of the success or failure of therapy, tumor aggressiveness, or other side effects. The analysis is rapid, and provides insight more quickly and precisely than existing methods.
Are you developing new technology for an existing application? Did you know your development work could be eligible for the R&D Tax Credit and you can receive up to 14% back on your expenses? Even if your development isn’t successful your work may still qualify for R&D credits (i.e. you don’t need to have a patent to qualify). To find out more, please contact a Swanson Reed R&D Specialist today or check out our free online eligibility test.
