Wisconsin Patent of the Month – February 2025
A modern twist on the classic slingshot is turning heads in the world of recreational gear and outdoor tools. Developed by Server Products, the new projectile launcher reimagines traditional design with a clever system that boosts power and precision while easing the strain on users.
At the heart of the innovation is a rotating central hub mounted to a rigid frame. This hub winds a power cable and dual drawstrings, which are routed toward a grip positioned ergonomically between the hub and a flexible limb. When the drawstrings are pulled, the hub rotates, drawing the limb inward and storing energy through the power cable. Upon release, that energy is unleashed to fire a projectile with enhanced force along a fixed axis—delivering more consistent, powerful shots compared to conventional elastic-band designs.
Crucially, the design eliminates the need for users to physically hold back tension while aiming. This means steadier shots and significantly less arm fatigue—an advantage for hunting, fishing, or target shooting. A guided drawstring path and a shot assembly that secures round projectiles further improve accuracy and ease of use.
The device maintains a familiar pistol-style grip for intuitive handling but integrates mechanical components more commonly found in archery or engineering tools. The result is a sleek, user-friendly launcher that bridges the gap between slingshot simplicity and high-performance design.
With its unique blend of ergonomics, mechanical efficiency, and shooting power, Server Products’ invention could signal a new standard for handheld projectile launchers across outdoor sports and hobby markets.

What is the R&D Tax Credit?
The Research & Experimentation Tax Credit (or R&D Tax Credit), is a general business tax credit under Internal Revenue Code section 41 for companies that incur research and development (R&D) costs in the United States. The credits are a tax incentive for performing qualified research in the United States, resulting in a credit to a tax return. For the first three years of R&D claims, 6% of the total qualified research expenses (QRE) form the gross credit. In the 4th year of claims and beyond, a base amount is calculated, and an adjusted expense line is multiplied times 14%. Click here to learn more.
