Wyoming Patent of the Month – April 2025
Kennon Products has secured a new patent for a fabric innovation that could redefine how inflatable structures are built. The patent, titled High Tensile Strength Fabric Seams, Weldable Fabric Tabs and the Preparation of Reduced Weight Inflatables (U.S. Patent No. 12,285,065), was granted on April 29, 2025.
Stronger Seams, Lighter Gear
The invention introduces a method for creating ultra-strong seams in flexible composite laminates such as Dyneema. By using laser welding and specialized reinforcement tabs, Kennon’s design achieves seam strengths that match or exceed the base fabric’s tensile strength. This advancement allows for lighter inflatable products without compromising durability.
The technology is particularly beneficial for applications where weight and strength are critical, including aviation, military gear, and emergency equipment. Kennon’s approach enables the production of inflatables that are both robust and lightweight, enhancing performance and safety in demanding environments.
