Wyoming Patent of the Month – March 2021
Data is stored as structured, semi-structured, or unstructured. The less structured the data, the more difficult it is to process into information – which is data with a purpose. There are 5 key methods of searching through these databases but they each have limitations. Text indexing is limited to returning the exact search term. Variation indexing searches for words similar to the search term, but pulls up plenty of irrelevant information and results and could even miss the desired result. SavantX, Inc. decided to revolutionize the way we search through data, using an augmented intelligence tool that keeps the user in the loop.
Their method generates search results in real time. The databases are converted to text if they are not already in that form, and indexed with key words (e.g failure), roots of those keywords (e.g. fail), and variations of these keywords(e.g. defeat). Indexing is controlled by a system management module. They are further indexed into file classifications (e.g. training manual, accident, maintenance etc). The user is able to search as usual, and the system searches through the databases based on these indexes to rapidly pull up the relevant information. While searching, the system measures context between terms to pull up only relevant documents rather than anything with the same words stored in it. It further analyzes documents to highlight passages of interest and calculates the importance value of the selected term in the document. This importance value is used to prioritize which documents are most relevant. Through this, the system provides what is most likely to be useful to the user in real time.
Are you developing new software? Did you know your development work could be eligible for the R&D Tax Credit and you can receive up to 14% back on your expenses? Even if your development isn’t successful your work may still qualify for R&D credits (i.e. you don’t need to have a patent to qualify).
