Wyoming Patent of the Month – March 2025
Raven SR, Inc. has secured U.S. Patent No. 12,241,024, titled “Production of renewable fuels and energy by steam/CO₂ reforming of wastes,” introducing a novel method to convert organic waste into clean energy without combustion. This innovation could revolutionize waste management and renewable energy production.
A Combustion-Free Approach to Energy Generation
Traditional waste-to-energy methods often involve burning waste, leading to greenhouse gas emissions. Raven SR’s patented system employs steam and CO₂ reforming to process organic waste, producing syngas—a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide—without direct combustion. This syngas can then be utilized in exothermic chemical reactors, such as Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, to generate heat and energy.
Real-World Impact and Applications
By eliminating the need for combustion, this technology reduces harmful emissions, aligning with global sustainability goals. It offers a scalable solution for municipalities and industries seeking efficient waste management and clean energy production. The process’s adaptability makes it suitable for various waste types, enhancing its applicability across different sectors.
Advancing Toward a Carbonless Economy
Raven SR’s innovation represents a significant step toward a carbon-neutral future. By transforming waste into valuable energy resources without harmful emissions, the company contributes to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly energy landscape.
