The SBIR/STTR FY2016 Phase I Release I program funds projects focused on evaluating the scientific or technical merit of ideas with the potential of commercialization or DOE mission research support identifying how the research will contribute to the existing objectives of the DOE.
Approximate $20,000,000 is available for allocation with typical awards ranging between $150,000 and $225,000 depending on the topic. Approximately 110 awards are available and typically run for nine months. Eligible participants must meet the following criteria:
Each application must only propose one topic, including a Technology Transfer Opportunity topic, if applicable, and may only have one subtopic. The applicant must choose the topic and must fall within the description of subtopic and satisfy any conditions. Topics that do not meet the qualifications and requirements will not be peer reviewed, all language will be taken literally. Duplicate applications are not permitted; however, applicants may submit up to ten different applications.
