The Single-windowpane Highly Insulating Efficient Lucid Designs program was designed to enhance economic and energy security through energy technology development and ensure the U.S. maintains a technological lead in energy technologies. The objectives of this program include:
- Stimulating private sector technological innovation
- Strengthen the role of Small Business Concerns in meeting Federal R&D needs
- Increase innovation commercialization in the private sector
- Foster and encourage participation by socially and economically disadvantaged and women-owned Small Business Concerns
- Improve return on investment from Federally funded research
- Stimulate cooperative partnerships of ideas and technology
This program will fund research and development efforts of:
- Products that are applied to existing windowpanes
- Manufactured window panes to replace existing panes without sash replacements
- Cost-effective technologies to improve thermal insulation and reduce cold weather condensation of single pane windows
Awards may fund up to $3,225,000 over a four year period. Proposal are expected to cover the actual needs of the proposed project. All applicants must meet the following criteria:
